PATASKALA (Adam Slinger) –- The “Barracuda Intruder Defense System” is designed to stop a school shooter from entering a classroom.
The new device, created by a Licking County firefighter, acts as a door-jam and locks the door in place.
“We want the absolute best products to make sure our kids our safe,” said parent Erin West, who helped raise the $30,000 needed to purchase the 300 devices.
Southwest Licking Schools is the first district to order one for every classroom.
“Our community is standing together today before something happens,” said said. “A lot of communities don’t come together until after something happens.”
